If your computer is acting up, running slowly and hesitating when you click a link. Sometimes it doesn't go where you want but to some poorly conceives search page with links to search for the same thing you just searched for before you browser was hijacked. This falls into the category of malware, spyware or adware.

These are all bad to have on your computer. Adware is the least harmful, but even it can open holes that can be exploited by more harmful spyware and or malware. Even adware can also be spyware because the adware spies on your surfing to determine when to redirect you based on the keywords you are searching for.

Why is this bad? Because this doesn't give you the best search result. It gives you the search result of whoever pays the adware compant the most per click. It is all revenue based.

The next category is malware. This is software that loads on your computer withot your knowledge and consent and that doesn't come with a way to uninstall it. In fact, uninstalling this type of software wrongly can disable the winsock connections of your computer. This means your computer can't go anywhere on the Internet at all.

This is why with rare exception, that it is unwise to let somebody remotely control your computer to try to remove a malware or spyware infection. To remove these you usually need to turn windows restore off and reboot the computer in safe mode without networking and disconnected from the Internet. Otherwise the malware just re-installs itself when you reboot. So, there is no way a remote user can remove the worst of these malware infections.

Additionally, you have no way of knowing that the remote user isn't installing software you don't want to give access you would never grant. It is best to call in an expert when you need help.
